Project Overview
Gardens Design and Build Ltd recently completed a stylish and low-maintenance composite decking project in Caterham , transforming a previously underused outdoor area into a sleek, functional space for year-round enjoyment. The installation included both a raised composite deck and a custom-built set of decking steps for safe and seamless access between garden levels.
Client Brief
The client wanted a modern alternative to traditional timber decking that would offer long-term durability with minimal upkeep. They also needed a safe and visually pleasing way to connect their garden’s upper level to the newly paved lower patio.
The Solution
We recommended composite decking for its weather resistance, splinter-free surface, and contemporary finish. To complement the garden’s overall layout, we built the decking area at an elevated height and installed decking steps using matching composite boards and sturdy timber framing.
Project Features
- High-performance composite decking boards in a charcoal/grey finish
- Elevated deck structure with reinforced timber framework for strength and longevity
- Matching composite steps designed for safe access to lower garden levels
- Hidden fixings for a clean, seamless appearance
- Anti-slip surface ideal for all-season use
Why Composite Decking?
Unlike traditional timber, composite decking requires no staining, sealing, or sanding. It’s UV-resistant, won’t rot or warp, and retains its colour over time — making it a perfect choice for modern gardens in the UK climate.
Customer Outcome
The client was thrilled with the transformation. The new decking area now serves as a stylish and practical outdoor living space, perfect for morning coffees, evening gatherings, or simply enjoying the garden. The matching steps provide easy access while maintaining the sleek look of the entire space.
